How to Keep a Tank Humid

How to Keep a Tank Humid. Keeping your tank humid can be the determining factor as to whether your reptile or amphibian flourishes or perishes. Though heat lamps and water will help with the humidity, they are not capable of sustaining the humidity needs. Do what you can to ensure your reptiles and amphibians have the humid tank they deserve.

Things Needed

  • Cardboard
  • Aluminum foil
  • Scissors
  • Electrical tape
  • Pencil
  • Heating lamp
  • Water

Step 1

Turn your heating lamp on low to medium heat. Fill the tank's pond element with slightly more water than usual.

Step 2

Place the cardboard piece on top of your tank. Outline the needed size with pencil.

Step 3

Cut out the cardboard piece to fit the tank top. Adjust as needed.

Step 4

Wrap the cardboard piece with tin foil. Cut out a few small ventilation holes so oxygen can get through. Cut out a piece for the tank heater, lamp or anything else that may be inhibited by the cardboard/aluminum addition.

Step 5

Place cardboard/aluminum piece onto the tank's ridge. Place the tank's lid back on. Secure with electrical tape so no humidity can escape.
