Overview

No one keeps Galapagos land iguanas in captivity outside their Ecuadorian homeland, though a couple colonies exist in their home islands at research stations. In the wild, Galapagos land iguanas are vegetarians that feed heavily upon cactus pads and fruits. Galapagos land iguanas inhabit burrows dug with powerful limbs in the volcanic soil of their native haunts. Up to 25 eggs are laid there.
