Door County Vacations At Peninsula Park

If you live in the Midwest, and you haven’t been to Door County,Wisconsin, then you are truly missing out. I love Door County so much I would drive or fly to have annual Door County vacations even if I lived on the west coast. Door County is a peninsula surrounded by Green Bay on one side, and Lake Michigan on the other. This is a perfect place for outdoor lovers, as there is hiking, mountain and road biking, boating, and fishing. Other popular activities are kayaking, canoeing, camping, and cross country skiing in the winter. There are tons of amazing restaurants, with dishes signature to Door County.

Door County is chock full of cherry and apple farms, and wineries. Fish Creek has long been my favorite place to stay because of 2 reasons: Peninsula State Park and Julie’s Park Cafe & Motel. Julie’s is located at the Fish Creek entrance to Peninsula Park, and has amazing food day and night.On a 5-day stay in Door County, I either camp in the park, or stay in Julie’s Motel, and visit the restaurant at least 6 times for various meals or dessert.

The motel and restaurant are family- and pet-friendly, and they carry food for everyone, including many local and organic ingredients. Julie's is a true favorite among Door County resorts and Fish Creek restaurants. Fish Creek is just 10 minutes from Egg Harbor. Both Fish Creek and Egg Harbor have tons of unique shops, candy stores, and ice cream parlors. Door County products include jams & jellies, fruity wine, the best cherry pies I have ever had, and dried cherries.
