Fluval Aquarium Edge A Fish Tank For Everyone

If you love tropical fish and you are a beginner aquarium keeper then the Fluval Edge Aquarium is perfect for you. Even experienced aquarium keepers will enjoy the amazing and unique design of this elegant aquarium. The tank is designed in a futuristic way with a glass top that allows you to completely fill it with water right to the top. The Edge fish tank looks like a 3D cube and provides the viewer with the opportunity to have a look at their beautiful fish from all angles without having to look through unsightly electric cords or other equipment.

Less water is lost from the tank through evaporation because of the glass top. However, the Fluval Edge Aquarium is still designed to allow oxygen exchange, which is critical for the fishes’ survival. The tank contains a halogen light attached to a unique hinged fixture so that it is fully retractable. This is handy when you want to clean your tank and you can simply lift the light out of the way.
Effective filtering is crucial to a healthy aquarium. Fluval makes excellent filters which are extremely quiet whilst still being highly efficient. The Edge tank filter is hidden from view (adding to the aesthetics of the tank). It utilizes a powerful three phase filtration technique that cleans the water using biological, mechanical and chemical means. This ensures that you’ll have clean, clear water for your little fish. A foam filter provides the first mechanical filtering by trapping any small bits of debris. Secondly, a carbon insert in the filter ensures that any smell or discolouration is removed from the water. Finally, a BIOMAX insert provides biological filtration by encouraging the growth of useful bacteria that help keep the tank healthy.

The Fluval Edge Aquarium is geared towards keeping tropical freshwater fish and if you’re a beginner I would stick to that. However some experienced aquarium keepers I know have successfully converted it to a salt water tank for marine fish. Tropical freshwater fish, however, require warmer temperatures and so you will need to purchase an additional heater for your tank. Unfortunately, the Fluval Edge doesn’t come with a built in heater.
This aquarium is terribly easy to assemble and maintain, so anyone can manage it. Fluval have a special maintenance tool kit which is specifically designed for the tank and I would recommend you use that one.

When it comes to choosing the fish for your tank, remember that it needs to run for a few days without fish to ensure that the water is not too clean and shocks the fish. You’ll need to go for smaller size fish as this is not a huge tank. Also remember that fish are normally introduced when they are immature, so they will grow a bit. Some of the species that I recommend are Barbs, small goldfish, Danios, White Cloud Mountain Minnows, Betta Splendens and Snails. Ask at your local pet store for similar size species.

I’m sure you’ll not regret getting a Fluval Edge Aquarium.
