Breed Description

The Greyhound is a swift as a ray of light and graceful as a swallow. He is one of the oldest and purest known breeds. The Greyhound has been used on practically all kinds of small game, but the hare is his natural quarry. Tracing his ancestry back to the ancient Egyptians, the greyhound was used to hunt large prey such as wolf, deer and wild board. Raised and owned by the ruling classes there were laws used to prohibit anyone owning a Greyhound unless they were a certain high station. Today he is used as a racing dog and is often destroyed after a short, impersonal career.
