 Is has been called Man’s best friend, proven to reduce stress, and can make just about anyone laugh.  What is it?  A dog.  In fact, according to the American Veterinarian Medical Association thirty-seven percent of American households own a dog[884].  Dog ownership popularity beats out every other animal including cats, birds, and fish.  It is not challenging to find another dog owner.  Simply walk down your street and you will see someone walking his or her dog!

Despite the costs and time commitments, dog ownership can be very rewarding.

After a breed has been decided upon, the next major decision of dog ownership will be choosing a top name for your dog. Picking a top notch name for your dog will be important.  It will need to fit its personality and appearance well.  Also, you too will need to like the name since you will be repeating this name on many occasions.  “Buddy come.” “Max sit.” “Molly down.”  Dog names frequently are names given to people as well.  Therefore, you might want to consider your friends and family’s names before settling on a name.  For example, you most likely will offend a few friends and family members if you name your dog the same name as your nephew, niece, or cousin!
