Snoopy Met His Pet Wormer

I have a pet dog name Snoopy. All right. All right. I all know what you are thinking such an original name for a pet dog. Well, for your information, I grew up reading Charlie Brown with all his adventures with Snoopy. I even remember having a blue Snoopy shirt. It was my favorite when I was young. Now why am I being defensive? I am arguing against assumed accusations. For all I know, you might not even care why I named my dog Snoopy.

Snoopy is a very playful, very affectionate pet dog. He should be given his pedigree: Snoopy is a golden retriever and when he stands to greet me, it would appear that he is as tall as I am. Every time I arrive home from school, snoopy would always be so overly excited and bark nonstop. He would want me to scratch his head before he can properly shut up.

However, I noticed that for a few days now, Snoopy seems to be weak and lifeless. Whenever I arrived he will just look at me, wag his tail a little bit and not move an inch. I tried telling this to my neighbor and he said it is just probably parasitic worms.

I immediately researched in my computer’s digital encyclopedia and I found out that animals have many parasites that infect them. These include worm parasites and arthropod parasites a common example of this are fleas. Common worm parasites of pet dogs and pet cats include hookworms, roundworms, and tapeworms.

Worms come from soil and they enter the pets’ skins as larvae. They then move into the bloodstream, and finally settling into intestine. The adult worms become mature in the wall of the intestine. Their diet would consist of blood from the intestinal lining; thus, it is common that infected pets would suffer weakness and anemia.

So that is why Snoopy is so weak. He probably ate some eggs of this worm in the soil since he is usually playing in our yard. I consulted my neighbor and he told me that I should go to a vet and have him applied a pet wormer to my dog. I worry about the price of pet wormers, but he assured me that pet wormers are not that expensive.

I research the Net again for this pet wormer and I found out that it is a common remedy for pets with worms. It is not dangerous after all and has been proven safe for years. I went to the vet and after examining Snoopy, he confirmed that indeed my dog is suffering from some hookworms. Bad nasty hookworms sucking the blood out of my beloved dog. He applied the proper pet wormer for my dog and that is it we are done. I went home relieved and happy at the same time. By the next few days, Snoopy was back to his old bubbly self barking like mad whenever he sees me and his master returned to his old bubbly self too.
