The Benefits A Folding Dog Crate Presents

There are so many different dog crates on the market today. They are becoming widely popular for housebreaking your pet. Dogs left free to roam the house while you are away at work can cause a lot of trouble. Just ask my 2 year old Lab, Heather. I was sure that she was moving along in her training, so I left her home alone one day. When we got home, the couch was torn to pieces. Thankfully it was old, but a lesson well learned. Don't worry, she has learned now, but it takes time, and dog crates actually make your pet more comfortable, if properly trained to use them.

Story said, there are some things to consider when choosing a crate for your pet. If you have read any of my articles or blog posts, you probably know that I have a few out there related to this. When it comes to crates, one of the best things that is available these days is a folding crate. The folding design really offers more benefits to you than your pet. If you like to take it with you, or need extra storage room, then this is the design for you. A couple of different styles of crates that do come in a folding style are wire dog crates, and soft dog crates. I am not sure if any plastic models fold, but it is very possible with today's technology. If there aren't as of yet, there will be. If you are looking for something to travel on an airline with, then plastic is the right style for you.

Folding dog crates are designed to easily fold down or put up. They are stored easily in the closet, under the bed, or anywhere else you can think of. Packing them in the car for use at your destination is easy too. I really love the folding soft crates for taking to the mountains with my dogs. Soft crates are not designed for the dog that is still chewing up everything in sight, nor or they designed for the pets that panic when enclosed and tear at the floor and sides with their paws. Make sure your pet is very comfortable in a wire or plastic crate before getting a soft one.

Also for traveling in the car, my personal opinion is that a plastic dog crate is the safest place for your pet to be. Never let your pet have free roam of the car; this distracts the driver, and makes him a flying missile if you need to brake suddenly, and never a good idea to put a dog in the bed of a pickup truck. After arriving wherever you are going, then a folding dog crate is great.

Folding dog crates are my favorite for home use, especially the wire ones. It is tough, offers loads of ventilation, and can be made into a nice attraction. There are many good looking crate covers and furniture pieces to make it attractive.

To assist you in deciding if a folding dog crate is the best for you and your pet, look at the products offered by the various manufacturers. You are sure to find one perfect for your companion if you do.
