What Is Inside Your Dog Or Cat Making It Ill?

Do dogs and cats suffer from parasites?

Almost all animals endure internal parasites as well as irritating fleas and ticks on their skin. The internal parasites ones set up home in the bloodstream, the intestines, muscle tissue, brain and joints. The fleas, ticks, mites and lice live on or just under the skin.

Intestinal worms are the main problem as well as microscopic protozoa such as giardia, generally ingested from contaminated water. All parasites can cause illness, discomfort and sometimes death.

Mosquito bites are responsible for spreading the roundworm parasite to cats. Although this is infrequent, once a cat is diagnosed with heartworm, the forecast is usually discouraging. The parasite, named because of where it takes up residence in the host, creates a mortal risk to cats as the worm, once established may migrate to the abdominal cavity, the brain, the lungs or other parts of the body.

Well-meaning pet owners feed their pets thinking they are just like us humans. We generally do not eat raw meats, therefore we believe that they should not. But pets are different animals and require different diets. Have you ever seen cats foraging for dried biscuits in the wild? Our pets have an acidic digestive tract. Feeding them raw meats will bring back what they should already have. Why is it that an increasing number of household pets suffer from Periodontal Disease? The presence of BACTERIA! This condition would be eliminated with a more acidic digestion. I cannot conceive how it is that endure painful mouths and the many health problems brought about by periodontal disease without their 'owners' even knowing. Does a wagging tail mean the dog is healthy?

Most household cats suffer from worms in their gastrointestinal tract. And once established they are likely to have them for life, unless something sensible is done about it. Worms are treatable, given the correct approach. In my view drugs don't do this without harsh side-effects. If kittens aren't the recipient of worms while in the womb, or through their mother's milk they will develop worms from mosquito bites.

Although humans catch disease from pets, we forget that a greater amount of disease is passed from animal to animal, especially when pets become ill and nothing is done about it. Don't forget that animals get sick just as often as humans do so you can either work to prevent it happening or deal with it when it does.

Look especially for flea allergies. These cause severe disturbances to the skin and some patches will become dry, flaky and sometimes raw red from chewing or scratching. The redness is caused from all of the chewing and constant scratching.
