Dirty Tick Facts and Secrets of Removing Them

Ticks are dirty tiny creatures that once infect a pet and then the pet has to suffer in silence. These ticks are nothing but vampires and they are very smart in sucking up blood from the pet animal.

Not only this, tick can make the entire house its breeding ground and there cannot be any menace greater than this. Before one starts the proper tick prevention, it is essential that one understands the basic facts about fleas.

  • Ticks belong to the arachnids family which means that they are close relatives of spiders and scorpions

  • There are almost 850 species of ticks and most of them are quite capable of transmitting diseases such as Spotted Fever, Rocky Mountain, Ehrlichia and Lyme's disease.
  • The appearance of ticks are like small dark spots on the pet's fur
  • Ticks do not have any disease in them such as the one mentioned above. They acquire these diseases while they suck blood from pets and pass on to other pets/animals.
  • Pets can get multiple diseases from a single tick bite.
  • Brown dog ticks and American dog tick is the most dangerous types of ticks.
  • A tick must never be removed by hands, using a tweezers is always recommended.

Simple steps to remove ticks

  • One need to wear latex gloves for removing ticks and good lighting is required for removing them..
  • Ticks can be everywhere such as around the face, eyes, and legs or even around the belly region.
  • Ticks are usually found embedded in the skin and one must use a pointed tweezers or an appropriate tick removal tool to remove it.
  • Now grasp the head of the tick firmly with the help of the tweezers but make sure that the head remains intact. .
  • The tick must now be pulled out straight and there must not any mistake in it.
  • Never squeeze the tick at any cost as it will release more dangerous pathogens in the body of the pet.
  • After the tick is removed, sock a small piece of cotton in an antiseptic solution and then dab it over the portion of the skin where the tick was embedded.

After the entire process is complete, throw the glass of alcohol in drain and the pet is finally free from tick.
