Also you should adjust to the habits of the dog for the few days that it is with you. Do not be harsh to the dog as it might end up harming you.

In the meantime you can first check up posters or advertisements for a missing dog. If you do not find any advertisement then you should issue your own advertisement about the dog that you found. You should take the necessary care for the dog till someone responds to the advertisements and calls you. You should make sure that neither you nor the dog get too attached to each other as it will be hard then to say good bye to each other.
