Before getting a dog trained it is important to search and find out what options are available. The first option is to decide whether you are going to train your dog by yourself or whether you are going to hire a professional. If you decide you are going to do the training on your own then you still have to make a few choices. In order to get a better idea of how dog training works you should get an idea of what kinds of products there are or even better what kinds of schools.

In order to get your dog trained from the get go you should get your puppy enrolled in what is known as puppy preschool. This type of dog school is intended for puppies where they will learn all the basic things puppies need to know. In general puppies need to be between 6 weeks to 5 months old. The duration of these courses varies but the longest ones can last up to a few weeks. At the puppy pre schools your dog will learn basic social skills as well as how to sit down, stay at a place, and how to come when you call them.

As your puppy grows a second type of dog training school will be required. The second type of dog training is meant for the dogs that are at least 5 months old. This type of dog training is known as the basic dog training. During the basic course your dog will be thought how to properly walk on a leash, to sit sitting, to stay, to come when you call home and to heel.

After that your dog will know and understand the basic commands. At this point you might want to take your dogs training to the next level. The next level of dog training is usually a more comprehensive training of the basic commands. Here the dog is trained to stay for a longer span of time, and is also taught to follow the orders given by other people.

The intermediate dog training is a bit longer than the precious types of fog training. In the intermediate dog training school your dog will have to be at least 5 months old. This type of training will last a bit longer, approximately 8 to 10 weeks. This type of training will give your dog a better understanding of more intricate commands or review commands that the owner wishes to teach the canine.

After the intermediate dog comes the advanced dog training, Here, once again, the course is quite similar to its previous one, i.e., the intermediate dog training course, except for the fact that this time it is more detailed. Here, the dog is taught how to sit even without you in the view. This training course is about 8 to 10 weeks long, and is meant for those that have completed their intermediate training. Here, they are also trained to walk beside their owners without a leash. Moreover, it gradually prepares the dog to take the Canine Good Citizen training course. The Canine Good Citizen training for dogs is the last course. To pass this course, your dog will be taught the 10 necessary aspects.

There are other types of dog training courses you might want your dog to take. A guard or body guard course might make sense for people who need this type of dog. It all depends on what needs you have. Most people are satisfied with the basic or initial dog training courses. After that they usually take the time to teach their own dog new things. Remember, all you need to teach your dog new tricks is a dog leash and a reward occasionally when your dog performs well.
