What you will do when you see ticks on your dog? Don’t worry and relax. Because killing ticks is easy now. Look for remedy or medication which will completely kill all ticks.
You can get so many products in different stores or search on the internet for home remedy for killing ticks.
First of all we will see what are ticks? Ticks are bloodsucking parasites closely related to spiders and scorpions. We can find different types of ticks such as Rhipicephalus sanguineus the Brown Dog Tick, Dermacentor viriabilis the American Dog Tick, and Ixodes species, the Deer Tick etc.
These all types of ticks are responsible for diseases such as Ehrlichiosis, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Babesiosis and Lyme Disease, and can cause a paralytic disease in dogs called Tick Paralysis.
Symptoms of Tick Paralysis include:

  • Fever

  • Muscle and joint pain

  • Stiffness

  • Rashes

The best option is consult with pet vet for selecting treatment medication because there are thousands of products and all may not be safe. Below I have mentioned few types of flea medication which will help for killing ticks.

Topical Repellants:
These are most popular and widely used type of medication which is applied topically on skin of pets. Examples are Frontline Plus or Generic Frontline Plus. These are most effective in killing ticks and repelling fleas. These agents have minimum toxicity and very rare chances of side effects.
Dips:
dips are a quick and effective remedy for killing ticks. This can be mixed with a concentrate and poured or sponged onto your dog at least after 2 weeks. Don’t wash out dog immediately after dip. Regularly dip is required otherwise ticks will attack again.
Shampoos:
Shampoos are also effective in killing ticks for short duration. Basically shampoo assists in cleaning eggs and dirt from the coat. Using shampoo then dipping or using a spray is the best strategy for best results.
Topical Sprays:
This works well to quickly kill ticks or they prevent eggs from hatching out later. Alcohol-based sprays and water-based sprays are available but alcohol-based sprays work best. Topical Sprays can be used along with dipping or with topical and systemic medications.
Tick collars:
Tick collars can help kill and repel ticks. Some Poor quality collars may be toxic to your dog, and can irritate the skin on the neck of your pet, so prefer branded products.
Foggers And Sprays:
Foggers And Sprays are mainly used for controlling and killing ticks for the house and yard. Many Foggers and sprays contain growth regulators to inhibit the hatching of eggs already in the environment. This is also an effective way to for killing ticks.
