What’s Really Eating At You?

While one living in a first world nation with excellent hygiene and health standards doesn’t think of parasites, the American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene sampled 2,896 people in the US and found 32% tested positive for intestinal parasitic infection. In my holistic practice, I think 60% of the general public has some parasite at one time or another. It may be affecting one’s health, or it may not seem to be. Some parasites cause disease. Some parasites contribute to disease by robbing your body of nutrients and undermining your immune system.

Parasites are transmitted by food, pets, water and travel. Raw food such as sushi or undercooked foods can expose one to parasite larvae or eggs. Our dogs and cats daily hygiene practice of licking and bathing can also cause the owner to be at risk when they touch their nose or mouth after petting their beloved animal. Consuming water one is unaccustomed to drinking, especially in foreign countries is another risk, as is travel in general, with third world nations being the greatest contributors to parasitic infections.

One way to reduce parasitic load is to avoid them, if possible! Another way is to routinely (once per year) cleanse with natural intestinal products to reduce or eliminate the possible varieties of parasites. Three ways to address them are chemical, mechanical, and energetic. Certain herbs can be effective as is using food grade diatomaceous earth (DE) and specific homeopathic remedies.
It is then important to use some colon cleanser to attract the debris and residues from the parasites and bind them for removal in the bowel movement. Many people become bloated and gassy with psyllium and bran, so I recommend products that are rice based. It is also safe for those who are gluten intolerant or celiac.

Before one is finished, it is important to colonize the bowel with viable probiotics. This is called Reflorastation. When the environment of the colon is optimal, parasites do not flourish well and are often eliminated before they can proliferate.

Often times, one holds a few extra pounds because of parasites. They do this by competing for nutrients in our food, encouraging the growth of yeast, making the body acidic, and thus, our organs become sluggish. Consider a 21 day parasite cleanse today!
