Cat Loss And Anger

28 11:21:26
You may feel very angry when you lose a beloved cat -- so angry that you
might find yourself lashing out at family members for no apparent reason.

Or you may find your social relationships strained if people don't seem to
understand the grief that you're experiencing.

Remember that not everyone understands the very deep bond of love that can
develop between humans and their animal companions. Not even all pet owners
get to experience this special relationship.

You might feel angry at yourself, or you might feel angry at your vet when
your cat dies. Or, you might feel angry at the world in general without
knowing quite why.

Perhaps you find it difficult to reconcile the loss of your cat with the
concept of a supportive universe or a loving God.

It's natural to feel these angry feelings when you lose something you love.
And it helps you to avoid dealing with your feelings directly if you're not
ready for that.

Displacing your negative feelings is not always productive, however. The
important thing is not to let them get out of hand.

Be especially kind and gentle with yourself and don't turn the anger inward.
It's hard enough to lose a cherished pet without blaming yourself and taking
it out on yourself.

You deserve kind treatment at this time -- even from yourself.
