What do our pets do when we’re not with them? In a perfect world we would be able to spend 24 hours a day with our pet. Unfortunately they can’t read or watch TV. and tying them up the back yard isn’t an option for caring owners. So what are they up too? Usually they’re waiting for us to come home and entertain them. Coming home doesn’t always mean we go right to them and keep them busy, sometimes we have other things to do and have to go in and out on other errands. They need us as much as we need us as much if not more than we need them, and that doesn’t stop when we’re not there. For the sake of your pet, learn to make the most of your time spent together. Making your time together more fulfilling will be more rewarding to do with a few simple alterations.
Exercise for yourself is just as important for your pet, especially in the world we live in where we need an outlet to let off steam. We know your pet has to be walked to do his business but it doesn’t have to be a chore, enjoy the time together walking getting some fresh air. A scheduled 30 minutes, more if you can for the sake of your pet, walking through the neighborhood trying different routes could be fun and invigorating for both of you. Make a pet date with other friends who have pets the next time you want to meet for coffee or tea, choose a pet friendly spot for everyone to meet and everyone will enjoy the interaction and you’ll still be able to spend time with your pet. Instead of just throwing some kibble in the bowl at meal time take a few minutes to spend with your pet talking to him while he eats, you might find your self clearing your thoughts out loud and he won’t mind and won’t tell anyone if you do.
Any additional time spent with your pet is beneficial. We’ve only listed a few simple ones. Your pets well being should be your first concern.
