How to Choose the Perfect Cat Bed

A huge selection of different types of cat beds is available on the market today for your pet cat. They can be fancy looking with hot pink bows, or simply warm and cozy with brown-colored fabric. Some of the most popular types include the heated bed, outdoor bed and wicker bed. These beds are an essential part of keeping a cat as a pet, especially because cats like to sleep often. An average cat can sleep up to 18 hours each day! Considering these long hours of sleep, a nice cozy place is one of the most desirable places for any cat.

When shopping for a bed for your kitty it is important to not only focus on the appearance -- such as how well it fits in with the room decor or its color -- but there are also other certain elements that need to be kept in mind. These include:

1. Texture: Whether it's a heated bed, outdoor bed, or if you are looking at special types like wicker beds, the texture and softness can determine if your cat actually likes the bed for sleep or nap time. Most cats are usually very picky and seem to hop from one place to another when looking for places to nap. If the bed is not soft and the texture is not what your cat prefers, then they will most likely leave the bed and go somewhere else to take their nap.

2. Structure: Cat beds come in different structures, including a donut shape or even an "enclosed-from-the-top" form for increased coziness. Some other structures include a raised platform for added comfort.

3. Temperature: As we all know, no matter what time of the year, cats love warm places. The newer types of beds come with built-in heating pads which are either microwaveable or powered by electricity. These provide therapeutic warmth with a healing quality that can keep your cat looking forward to using the bed.

4. Size: When choosing among different types of cat beds always make sure that the one you buy is the right size. Some cats are bigger than others, of course, and require more space for sleep. If you have more than one cat, then they might want to snuggle up and sleep together. In this case, it is good to get a bigger size. You can always put more bedding or cushions inside if the space seems too big.

Other types of cat beds include those made of plastic, beanbags, cardboard box, cushioned, fake fur, sleeping bags, fleecy round beds and many others. No matter which bed you decide to buy, it is important to make sure that the location of the bed will be perfect as well. Most cats like to have a nice view of the whole house when sleeping. Considering these factors can make kitty's sleeping experience even better!
