How exciting is it to be exploring the wonderful and beautiful world of leopard geckos? Most people are attracted to these lizards because of their uniqueness and beauty. One of the most popular and interesting is the albino leopard gecko. If you are not yet aware, the different colors and designs of leopard geckos have come about because of the morphing process. Also an interesting fact is if these geckos were in the wild they would not survive because of how different they are.

Leopard geckos came into our country many years ago and breeders began to breed them and create (or morph) them into all of the varieties that we see today. Even the albino geckos have different morphs. The three that are most well-known are the Bell, the Tremper, and the Rainwater. The albino has recessive traits; meaning if you breed any of the varieties with another albino variety, the babies will not be albinos. They will actually look like normal leopard geckos. The theory behind this is the recessive traits are a mutation of certain genes that control the creation of the gecko. Most people have difficulty the differences in the three albino varieties. It's basically anyone's guess.

Of the three types, the Tremper is the most common. Albinos can be pink or bright white, they can even be brown - these are marketed as "mocha strain." The eyes in the albino will be bright red to normal. Temperature plays a role in the color of the eyes. The warmer the temperature the darker the color of the eyes.

Of the three varieties of albinos, the Bell is the rarest of the three. The Tremper is the most common. What you will observe in a Bell is pink areas on their skin appearing much darker than the other varieties of albinos. The Bell will have much redder eyes and these eyes will stay red throughout their lifetime versus other varieties that the eyes will change to beige as they grow older. Albino geckos are very sensitive to light and will keep their keys closed a lot if there is bright light in their environment. They also will be prone to feed at night because of their light sensitivity.

As you explore the world of leopard geckos, learn as much as you can about the different varieties. Each gecko you see will be unique and beautiful. As time passes, you might be part of the morphing of new and interesting designs and colors.
