How To House Train Your Cat

2016/5/4 10:30:34

Training dogs at home is said to be more challenging than house training your cats. The process usually doesn't take as long and the effort needed to house train cats isnt as tedious. Near the bathroom area is one of the good locations for your cat's litterbox, for this will make the cleaning part and familiarity to it for your cat easy. In a snap, house training your cat can be made with ease.

The first step in house training your cat is providing a litter box that will suit it. Find the right size and style of litterbox for your cat. The new litterbox should be able to accomodate a fully grown cat. Doing this will not just make your cat get used to the litterbox but this will also save you time and money. It is not advisable to shift from one litterbox to another since this may require you to retrain your cat. In order to avoid this you have to make sure that the litter box you buy for your cat is big enough and sturdy enough to last for a long time.

Add more comfort by putting sand-like grains of litter in the box. You also have to make sure that the litter box is always clean and ready for the cat to use. Our feline friends love tidy things and keeping the litterbox in this condition will attract it to keep using it. Cats have an extraordinary sense of smell, so using strong scented products in cleaning is not recommended.

Use products with natural scents or just clean the box with soap and water and let it dry. The next step is to ensure that no plants or any other outdoor elements are present in the soil. Your house training will be difficult if these outdoor elements are present since they are easily attracted to it. Play with your cat after meal, directing it to the litterbox. This will encourage the cat to always visit the litter box. Play around with the litter in the beginning to keep the cat interested in staying inside the box. Scratching your cat's belly and petting can be done as a form of reward. The rewards may also come in treats and cat foods.

House training your cat can be done in many ways. You can also try experimenting with other methods. It's best to train them while they are still kittens for a better chance of them remembering it.
