Collar.

For different types of training, a leash that is six feet long with sturdy clip would be ideal. Retractable leash on the other hand is ideal if you want to allow your pet to wander away from you but it is not great during basset hound training since you will not have much control over your dog. Additionally, this type of leash is not advisable to dogs that are not yet trained on a regular leash nor if you cannot keep an eye on him.

Crate.

The crate is one of the most beneficial dog training tools a dog owner can get. Most effective tool for potty training, the crate can keep both your pet and your house safe when leaving him alone at home. Chewing and other behavior problems can be addressed with the help of crate. Additionally, if you plan to travel with your pet, be it by car or plane, it is best to use crate to ensure your pet's safety and comfort at the same time abide with the rules of most airlines regarding traveling with pets.

Reward.

Rewarding your pet for doing desirable behavior is one way to let him know that you are pleased with what he did. It could be anything your pet find really rewarding; praise, chew toys, treat, raw hides and the likes. Treat however, should be given in moderation to prevent your pet from becoming obese and treat-dependent.
