Is Your Dog's Shedding Driving You Crazy?

Although it is very cool to have an inside dog, one of the worst things about this however is the problem of shedding hair. When you bring a new puppy home, your first and most important thoughts are of course to potty train the dog so it will use the bathroom outside and not in the house. This only takes a few weeks and that problem is fixed. But the issue of hair all over the house is another matter.

First of all, us talk about why dog shed. Canines lose their hair throughout the year but it is always worse in certain months. They go through a natural cycle that coincides with the seasons. As warmer weather is approaching, you will notice more shedding hair from your pet. This is extremely common and is especially evident in certain breeds more so than others. There isn't anything to do about this natural seasonal occurrence.

Another thing to consider, and this might be something you think about before selecting your puppy in the first place, is that shorthaired dogs shed worse the longer dogs. This is pretty much true across all the breeds. The longer haired dogs have less of a problem of losing their hair than those with very short hair. The reason for this is that the longer hair stays on the canine longer before it naturally falls out. The shorter the hair strands are sickly means that they fall out quicker than the longer versions. Therefore, the shorter hair dogs have a cycle that is much quicker and thus there is always more hair falling out at any given time.

Another trick that pet owners can use to eliminate some of the issue of having hair all over the floor, furniture, the bed, and all of your clothing, is to regularly brush your pet outside. It is best to buy one of the short steel bristled brushes available in many large pet stores for this purpose. You will be amazed at how much hair can be removed from your animal with one of these brushes. Again, you always want to do this outside because there can be an enormous pile of hair resulting from this brushing. But what this means is that all the hair that is loose and about the fallout will quickly be removed by the brushing and thus eliminate it falling out in the house.

If you get in the habit of brushing your animal several times a week outside you will notice a greatly decreased amount of falling hair in your house. Again, different breed shed in different amounts in it may mean that your particular dog only needs brush once a week or it could mean that it's best to brush him or her for five times a week outside. We found that this simple trick for removing the air outside is much as possible eliminates the problem in the house greatly.
