Removing Pet Smells From Your Carpets And Furniture

While everyone loves their dogs or cats, most people hate the fact that when they come home from work they walk into their houses and smell nothing but their pets. One obvious solution is to keep your cat or dog outside all the time and not let them in the house. But I don't know about you, but I could never banish my dog to the backyard for the rest of his life.So in this article we are going to explain to you how you can reduce and possibly even eliminate the pet odors in your house.

For you cat people out there, there is nothing worse than walking in your house and smelling the litter box.One thing you can do is actually to change the cat litter every couple of days as this can really help to reduce the smells. Also even if your cat litter comes with baking soda in it you can always add more to help reduce the odors.

For you people that have carpeting, there is a really easy way to get the smell of your dogs or cats out of the carpeting. The first thing you will want to do is to get yourself a large spray bottle. Then you just want to fill the bottle with water, nothing else just water. At this point walk all around your carpeting and begin wetting the carpet. You don't want to soak the carpeting just make it a little moist. Then take baking soda and as evenly as you can begin sprinkling the baking soda all over the moistened carpeting.

At this point, if you are one of the people who have a carpet brush simply brush the carpeting so the water and baking soda go deep into the carpeting. For those of you who are unaware, a carpet brush is just what it sounds like, a brush to use on your carpeting. In fact it looks more like a lawn rake than a traditional brush. These can be purchased at just about any carpet store and even most hardware stores carry these brushes.

Now you simply wait for your carpet to dry and take your vacuum and vacuum your entire carpet. While this works great for traditional pet smells, it will not be that effective on urine odor. For that issue you will need to go to a pet store and tell them that your looking for pet urine odor remover. Also make sure that what ever they try to sell you has enzymes in it.These pet enzymes pretty much just eliminate the urine odor by breaking down the urine. Most of these techniques will also work on just about any type of furniture. However be sure to read the tags on the furniture to make sure these techniques will not harm the fabric. On a final note about the furniture cleaning. If you are one of those people who spend $5,000 on a sofa, you can probably just afford to throw that one away and get a new one.Either that or hire a professional to come in and clean it.
