It is indeed a wonderful experience to build a bird cage that is convenient to your bird and to your budget. The first step before this process is to formulate a concept regarding its design, including the size. Many bird lovers would want their bird to have an extremely spacious bird cage.

However, you have to keep in mind that the idea would also depend on how much space you have at home. It may be very space consuming, most especially if you are in a tight area. Make sure that before you start preparing the materials, you provide yourselves with a list of all things needed with correct measurements consistent with the plan.

After you have conceptualized the design and the materials, you proceed to the other specifications you would want your cage to have. You may attach legs to your cage to serve as a good base of support. You may also allow your cage to hang on the ceiling. It will all depend on your choice and the size and the area of your house where you will put the cage.

You should also consider the weight of the birds. If your bird is a lot heavier, you need to use heavier type of gauze wires. This will provide stability to your cage. Lighter wires provide poor quality in terms of sturdiness since these wires are thin they can be broken in a shorter time. It may also contribute to the escape of your bird.

If you wish to use light wires, It is recommended for you to provide your cage a wood frame as an additional support. It serves strong barrier to the outer side of the cage as back up to the less sturdy wires.

Make sure that the side of the wood frame that faces your bird does not contain chemicals from furnishing accessories because it may cause danger to your birds in the form of intoxication.

Other accessories applicable can be putting perch, tug ropes, mirrors or swings that are good stuff that the birds can play with. Birds like parrots enjoy perch a lot. Most parrots in a cage have perch in it.

Last but not the least, one of the very important factors that needs attention is the base form of the cage. It is the base form that receives the waste product of the bird. This is important since sanitation would ensure good health and comfort not only to your bird but also to you and all people living in the house.

You may use a strong tray to serve as a bottom sheet that would contain all droppings, including food wastes. Lining it with a layer of wax paper is also advised. This will make cleaning of the cage a lot easier and convenient. With a clean environment comes convenience and good health to your pet and your family.
