To be an expert in any field like dancing, singing and painting etc you need to get yourself trained properly. In the same way, an animal needs to be specially trained to make an animal expert in certain things.

Most of the times, training of animals comes from domestication; which means we take wild/untrained animal and make him feel comfortable in an environment where human beings live. This type of training is called exposure training where animals are exposed to an odd situation and then they are allowed to get use of it and feel that it's just a normal situation. For example, if a cat gives birth to kittens underneath your garden shed, and they do not come across humans when they are young, they will be scared when see them in adulthood. However if you expose them to humans at young age then they will have no fear and feel comfortable around them. In the same way, if you raise the same kittens with a dog in the house then they will get used to seeing dog around and will not be sacred.

However, the question is why do we need to train the animals in such a way? The simplest answer is we want to make things easy and more comfortable for us. We train them for our own convenience and to make them fit in with our lives in a better way. Earlier, people used to train animals because they could produce milk, meats, eggs, cheese etc. but gradually they started giving further training in order to get more help from them. For example, ox is used for farming, horse for riding, and donkey for carrying load.

In addition, the concept of pet animals like dogs and cats which are kept at home for security and companionship came into existence. It's great to have them around as a part of family. A dog may mess around and litter in the house if left untrained. For an instance, he can use any part of the house as a bathroom. So it becomes imperative to give a proper training to a pup so that he does not create a mess in the house.

A professional training can make an animal do almost everything, for example, they are trained to run daily errands for those who are unable to do so, as guides for people who are blind etc. such a training is given to them by offering reward like their favorite food and by repetition of same activity. Gradually, he inculcates these things in his mind and gets habituated of doing activities asked to do. Most of the animals trainers use this way because they come in handy, especially in emergencies. For example, a lion trainer uses meat pieces and a dolphin trainer uses fish as a reward. If you want your pet to do things in the right manner, then you must give them professional training and make them as capable as human beings.
