A Guide to Aggressive Dog Training

2016/5/3 16:56:16

A dog that is excessively hostile, even to its own master is a very scary sight to behold. This is particularly pronounced if you’ve been accustomed to seeing well behaved and obedient dogs on TV. An aggressive dog could be a fearsome sight as you would be witness to a beast whose ancestors practically hunted down other animals for food. The problem will only get worse once the dog develops into a larger, headstrong and more formidable animal.
It is important for you to train your own emotions and tendencies first, whenever faced with a fully-fledged adult dog. You might remember the times when you hugged what used to be a tiny puppy that you adored. Now, you are given two choices, the easy road and the long and arduous road. The easy road consists of bringing the dog to a dog school. It would be easy but you would have to pay for it. The long and arduous road is to find all the dog training tips that you can find and to train your pet on your own. Each has its ups and downs

There are several reasons why a dog can become aggressive. Its past experiences and conditions all play a role in its development and current behavior. The emotions of fear, hunger, longing, ancestry, loneliness and seclusion have the same effect on dogs as they do on humans. It is your responsibility to determine the causes for these emotive states by first highlighting their existence through their various manifestations.

Essential Tools for Dog Training
One of the most effective and respected tools in training dogs is the dog clicker. You must know that dog clicker training is not an end-all be-all approach that could be miraculously performed just with the help of an enchanted item such as a dog clicker. It is more than that. You should be aware that a dog clicker is just a thing that makes sounds. In fact, there are many tools that you could use to help you.
The main focus of your endeavors should be on creating the association between three things. The first task for you would be to create that link between the clicking sound to a thing that will make the dog feel better emotionally and physically. The second one is to associate the emotional aspect of feeling good to obedience to a specific task or behavior.
You must understand that a dog clicker by itself will not create that association for you. It just makes an abrupt clicking sound that is easily recognizable by the dog. Its job is to heighten your dog’s awareness as if on cue to your verbal commands. In a way, it is similar to loud clapping or speaking on a microphone to boost your voice in order to get people to listen to you. In that way, what you need to establish is a connection between the sound of the clicker with a distinguishable reward. Afterwhich, you will then establish the causal connection, between the thing that gives the dog fulfillment to something that it must do before it gets it.
Concentrate on establishing these two: association and repetition. These two important terms will then make up the base of the training regimen for your aggressive dog. By doing so, you are in essence generating a linkage between gratification and the clicking sound. If performed correctly, this would also help you create a conditional parameter by which gratification would ensue. Simply stated, you are making the dog understand that you before it gets the gratification, it must do something. One more important idea that you must be familiar with would be consistency. If there is no consistency in the manner by which you give out rewards and elicit conditions, a dog would be confused by exactly what you want it to do. All of these principles are grounded on psychology. In psychology, behavior modification programs are used to alter the way by which humans and animals behave. Although not all creatures are rational by nature, almost all of them are reactive. That simply is understood that when you do something, there must be a matching reaction to it. In this situation, an aggressive dog would eventually be conditioned or trained to act in accordance with your will provided that its expectations will be met.
