A bulldog owner should carry out bulldog puppy training as soon as they can. The entire process runs throughout the dog’s life but the most important learning stage is the puppy age. At this age, the puppy is able to take in new commands. All it takes is practice and consistency. As the adage goes, one cannot teach old dogs new tricks. Therefore, this is a very crucial stage of the dog’s life.

A very good method to instill obedience in a dog is by use of positive reinforcement. Every time the dog does the right thing, the owner should take up the task of offering a reward. With time, the dog associates certain behaviors or deeds with rewards. That being the case, dogs should be discouraged form acting in an unpleasant manner.

There is no better way to carry out positive reinforcement than to use snacks. The owner should however be very careful not to overfeed the dog as bulldogs are known to have a very huge appetite. They love feeding and gain weight fast. As the dog gets older there is no need to use a snack, the routine will be in mind and the dog will have gotten used to say a certain command.

Training a puppy will obviously have to involve obedience training. The bulldog is also naturally very stubborn so this calls for patience and understanding as that is their natural temperament. After giving a command, a bulldog may want to play around therefore it is crucial to instill some level of discipline in the dog when it is still young.

Immediately one gets a puppy they should begin crate training the dog so that it can get used to staying in the crate. Over time the puppy will get used to the idea and it will be the most preferred place to spend its time. It is the safest place to leave the dog especially when one is not away. Dogs love chewing and may end up chewing dangerous objects that may cause health complications or even death.

Potty training also comes in handy. Although this may be carried out at any stage of the bulldogs life, it sticks better when the training starts early in the dog’s life. The most preferable way to do this is by the use of a schedule.

In a matter of time, the bulldog will get used to a certain routine and the owner will have to worry less about a dirty house. As the dog grows older the owner will begin to notice that the bulldog is indeed a good pet to have. Once in a while, the dog may however become stubborn.
