Do you know that your doggie’s smell is affected by his diet?

Believe it or not, that smell is caused by the ingesting chemicals and preservatives in his meal. If you give your pet a homemade dog food diet, then this will all change. Yes, just by changing the diet of your pet, you are going to not only have a dog that is less odorous, but you will find that he or she is more lively and healthier. When we fed our pit bulls this type of grub for the first time, we observed a huge difference. Let’s find out how to change your dog meal from commercial to homemade dog food.

Stop and think for a second… Could you imagine having the same dry, preservative and chemical laden meal every single day of your life? It is thought by many experts that commercial brand food can adversely influence the well-being of your dog and may account for most of the illness we see in pets these days, so if you treasure the well-being of your pet, you might consider making his diet at home.

If you think that making your dogs food instead of just dumping it out of a bag is a hassle, that is not always the case. In fact, dogs eat the same foods we do, but in different combinations so you can in fact use most of the human foods you are already preparing but with a little extra to feed your dog.

When it comes to making do-it-yourself dog diet, you should make sure it is well balanced. You want to include about 50% meat, 30% fruits and vegetables, and 20% grains like oats or barley or brown rice. There are a few foods you have got to avoid such as onions, garlic, potato, cooked bones, avocado, nuts, grapes, fat trimmings, raisins, mushrooms, dairy products, sugary and salty foods.

When adjusting your dogs meal, you should make sure that you do this bit by bit so as not to cause digestive upset. Begin by blending some of the homemade food with his normal food – about 10% homemade to 90% regular for a few days. Then up the proportion of homemade and lower the percentage of regular for the next few days. Continue till you are feeding all homemade food to your dog.

Giving your pet homemade dog food might be a little bit more work, but it is certainly well worth it for a happy and healthy pet.
