Using A Bark Collar To Train Nuisance Barking Dogs

Just as humans use words and other sounds to communicate in a wide variety of situations, dogs bark in order to communicate with each other or to convey messages to other animals. In the case of domestic dogs, barks are most often used as a means of communicating with people. Barking can also be an instinctive reaction to certain situations, such as when a dog is spooked by something. Sometimes, however, dogs also exhibit something known as nuisance barking, when they bark continuously for no discernible reason at all. For owners who find themselves saddled with nuisance barking dogs, and who have had no success at stopping their dogs from barking, then they should definitely try using a bark collar to train their dogs to stop them from barking.

Although dogs are descended from wolves, they look and behave very differently from wolves because humans have specifically bred dogs for certain traits over the centuries. One of the traits that was often desired in dogs in olden times was barking, as this allowed dogs to serve as guards, warning owners whenever strangers or wild animals came too close. Thus modern day dogs are also more inclined to bark, having been bred for so long to be barking dogs.

Barking can be extremely irritating for an owner, however, especially for dog owners living in apartments, as they are in close contact with their dogs throughout the day. In addition, barking dogs can also be heard through the often thin walls of apartment buildings, annoying neighbors and resulting in bad relations between dog owners and their neighbors. For this reason and others, it is definitely desirable to stop your dog from barking needlessly. Some dogs need to be trained not to bark, however, and this type of training is usually rather difficult. A bark collar is an indispensable tool when training your dog to stop barking, and the bark collar will cut short a process that would otherwise be extremely long and tiring.

The bark collar works on a very simple principle – all living things avoid discomfort. In this case, discomfort comes in the form of light electrostatic shocks, not much different from the static shock that sometimes comes from touching a metal doorknob with your bare hand in the winter. The shock is usually more about surprise than pain, and while there is an instant of pain, it is harmless and over quickly. The bark collar uses this very same type of shock as a tool with which you can train your dog.

Whenever your dog starts nuisance barking, you can attempt to quiet it down and its bark collar will automatically activate at the same time. This will communicate to your dog that you want it to stop barking, and the electrostatic shock will cause your dog to associate nuisance barking with discomfort. Dogs are remarkably intelligent creatures, and your dog will soon learn that it can avoid discomfort simply by keeping quiet. In this way, nuisance barking dogs can easily be trained to stop barking.

Dog trainers traditionally have a difficult time training nuisance barking dogs, but with a bark collar from DogMaster Trainers, even first-time dog owners will be able to train their dogs to stop from barking needlessly.
