One of the best things about lanyards is the fact that they can be customized to perform all kinds of tasks. Dog owners are realizing that the simple lanyard is among the most useful items to have when they are walking their animal.

One of the best uses for a lanyard is as a convenient means of temporarily tying your dog. If you do want to run into the corner store to grab something, you can have a secure tie for the dog in a matter of seconds. The cord can be looped around virtually anything and the end can be attached to the dog’s collar.

You can also turn the lanyard into a traffic leash. A traffic leash is one which is extremely short. Ideally the leash is not more than about two to three feet in length. It is designed for people to use when they are walking with their animal in high traffic areas. These leashes are used on bike paths and busy sidewalks because they keep the dog right at the owner’s side at all times. They do not permit the dog any room to move which makes it much easier to navigate around poles and other people.

Many people worry they of the dog will become dehydrated on long walks or when it is extremely hot and humid. This can be prevented by adding a fold-able water dish to your lanyard and a water clamp. This technique allows the owner to carry along a drink and have a dish for the dog.

A large lanyard pouch has many uses when you own a dog. The pouch can be used to carry along training devices of any kind. If you intend to do any kind of off leash training you might want to use some kind of electronic device. Many of these systems involve a collar and a hand held unit. The hand held portion can be kept in the pouch along with extra batteries and a few small rewards. Drag lines can also be stored here.

There are a number of training tools which can be attached directly to the cord. The user can get various attachments which will permit the owner to carry either a clicker or whistle.

Many owners opt to use their lanyard wallet pouch to carry along the various products needed to clean-up after the dog. The wallet provides enough room for pick-up bags and gloves. There is also space in the pouch to bring along a few treats and or a special toy for the dog to have while walking.

People who frequently walk with their dogs late in the evening can get badge lanyards which will make it easier for traffic to see them. There are a number of materials which will act as reflectors. There are also lanyards which have built in LED lights.

If you own a dog, you should get a few lanyards which are always kept with the dog’s normal leash. You can have the lanyard ready to go the moment that you and the dog head out!
