Effective Flea Remedies: Treating Flea Infestation Right at the Source

Let me ask you a question: Would you rather treat hundreds of fleas with a good probability that your pet, home and bedding would be infested again? Or would you rather kill the fleas right at the source - the female flea laying the eggs? Let's face it, fleas are a huge nuisance to both us and our pets. Just killing the fleas you can see won't work - especially when you consider that just one female flea can lay up to 50 eggs a day, or 1,000 eggs in a lifetime. That's a lot of biting, itching and scratching!

Thankfully, I've found a flea medicine that works to kill fleas incredibly quickly and lets my dog be completely free of fleas within a few hours. It's called Comfortis.

How Does it Work?

I searched long and hard over the web to find a flea medicine for my dogs that wasn't toxic, didn't require a bath (which often results in me getting more water and suds on me than the dog!) and wouldn't rub off and stain my furniture like some of the topical applications can. My vet recommended Comfortis because it works for dogs of all sizes and can be given to them as a chewable tablet rather than trying to hold them still while you squirt an applicator-full of medicine on them.

What Were the Results?

Comfortis lives up to its name in terms of killing fleas and their eggs quickly. Within thirty minutes, I saw a noticeable difference in my dogs. They weren't biting, scratching and whining as much, and you could tell they felt much better. By the next day, they were back to their playful, enthusiastic selves and I couldn't be happier. My vet said that the medicine works better if you give it to your dog on a full stomach. I like to slip the tablet into a piece of cheese or a piece of hotdog; that way the dog has no idea he's taking medicine. If you've got a puppy, you'll be glad to know that the medication works on dogs as young as 14 weeks.

Flea-Free for Up to 30 Days

The best part is, Comfortis doesn't wash off, rub off or stain because it's not applied directly to the skin like other types of flea preventatives. Obviously, the dosage will vary depending on the size of your dog, but your vet can instruct you on which dose is right for your pet's size. My vet also said that the medicine works great on dogs that have flea allergies. Flea allergies mean that your dog isn't just aggravated from the biting and itching of the fleas, but also because of their body's inner reaction to the flea bite itself. As you might imagine, this kind of endless cycle makes your dog absolutely miserable - so it's great to have a convenient tablet that you can give them which brings them much-needed relief in record time.
