My Bones And Biscuits, Favorite Dog Treat Recipe

My blog topics are varied and I tend you be opinioned, escpecally when it come to "Dog Food and Dog Treats" I guess that comes with the territory when you're named Frank. The blog has been up for over a year now, I just re-publishing it in wordpress and have gotten away from Go Daddy.

My bones and biscuits started out as a dog biscuit bakery. Now it's a blog about and Dog Care our now It was dedicated to Mugsy our now deceased 4 year old boxer. Since, his death I slowed down on the blog, but I've rescued a new angel by the name of Jersey. Instead of baking biscuits now, I offer our dog biscuits recipes for free.

The recipes are in these choice flavors. Allergy Free dog biscuits made with Spelt, Allergy Free Quinoa biscuits, Brown Rice biscuits, Whole Wheat biscuits and Unbleached White Flour biscuits, Low Cal biscuits. All of these biscuits can be made with, chicken, cheese, peanut-butter or beef.

Here's a recipe for what I call Bodacious Beef and Bacon

You'll need 4 cups of Unbleached White Flour

1 cup of homemade bacon bits

1 cup of Oatmeal

1/8 cup of Oat Bran

1/8 Cup Of Milled Flax Seed

1/4 teaspoon of Sea Salt

Mix the dry ingredients with a mixer.

Then Prepare the wet ingredients, I make my own homemade chicken stock with chicken backs, I freeze it in 2 cup sevings, (for this batch we need just 2 cups) In this example we are making Beef and Bacon so I'll use some beef bones and make a broth. again we need about 2 cups for this batch.

The wet ingedients,

2 cups of home made beef broth

2 large eggs

2 tablespoons of Olive Oil

1/8 teaspoon of seasalt

Mix all of these liquids in a mixing cup or bowl then slowly fold into the flour in the mixing bowl you may or may not require all the liquid in the mixing cup . You may be left with about an 1/8 of a cup of egg and broth mixture which you can throw away after the dough is managable enough to pickup and roll out.

Now roll the dough out to where it's about 1/4 inch thick, I use dog bone cookie cutter and make about 5lbs of biscuits at a time. Preheat your over at 350 degrees and bake the biscuits for 40 minutes at 350.

Make sure the bottoms of the biscuits are slightly brown and then turn the oven down to it's lowest setting around 170 degrees if possible, and bake the biscuits for two hours more. This is to dehydrate the biscuits so they don't get moldy quickly.

I promise you that your dog will go insane for these biscuits, the biscuits you buy in the store don't have real homemade ingredients, certainly not of the quality you are providing your dog with in these biscuits.

Store bought treats are full of chemicals, to keep the already poor quality grains, meal and flavorings from going bad on the shelves.

I hope you enjoy making these bodacious beef and bacon treats.
