Dogs and Water

29 14:08:58

The sight of a dog frockling in water is a familiar one
especially when on holiday. Most dogs love water and some make a
beeline for every muddy puddle they come across. Carefully
groomed dogs emerge from these muddy puddles dripping and
bedraggled and almost unrecognisable. They then proceed to cover
everthing in the vicinty in the vigorous shaking that follows.
Dogs appear to enjoy the shaking afterwards almost as much as
the fun of playing in the water. Seasoned dogs owners know to
avoid both muddy puddles and the shaking dog.

Many dogs are good swimmers, in fact swimming in water will give
your dog more exercise than in an equivalent period of running.
Breeds such as labradors and the Irish Water spaniel are natural
water dogs and will relish a swim.

I am sure most dogs wouldn’t want to take their swimmimg as far
as the famous mongrel called Mutley. Mutley became his owners
scuba diving companion wearing a specially adapted diving suit.
