The puppy you're holding is color white yet you imagine if there are other colors? These Akita puppies come in all sorts of colors. Some are brown and white, brown and black. Other Akitas are colored red, brown in the shade of sesame and brindle. What on earth is brindle? Well, for the color wheel challenged, this color runs from white-ish to gray and sometimes it's streaked with a darker color. Well, this could also be a nice hair dye color on you!

What is more attention grabbing with these Akita puppies is their coat. Their breeding information says that these dogs are double coated waterproof breeds. Their outer coat is straight, often harsh and slightly stands off their bodies. The under coat on the other hand, is denser, softer and much closer to the body. Be ready though that they shed their coats twice a year. Do not go berserk with the fur balls rolling inside your homes and running wildly in your well-tapered lawns alright?

Welcoming a new dog to your home is crucial since you have to find out if his or her temperament's easy to live with. Aside from being territorial with their families, they are also protective of their food. Well, most living things are known to have the instinct for survival so this is quite understandable. Try not to let these Akita puppies mingle too much with other dogs and pets. They get a little rowdy and your next door neighbor's furry rabbit might take its permanent leave of absence. Actually, anything restless and hoppity boppity is considered a target by these Akita puppies. They just do not want so many things happening at the same time.

So it is best to protect your family too by educating the younger children to learn to behave as well whenever they should be around Akita puppies or any breed of dog in particular. They usually do not tolerate strangers around so it would be best to teach them to be a little friendlier. They will try but will not always work out that way. They are considered as man's best friend but these Akita puppies are not always wired the same. It is best to know thy dog's body and mind.

Fast tracking your Akita puppy purchase is not to be done. You have already found out that they have fleeting tempers and they shed a lot. You tell yourself that you can live with those things. Are you really sure? Make up your mind if you are indeed very capable of adopting an Akita puppy and rearing it to become part of your family.

It is never too late to revert your mind to another breed but if you really are 100% sure, owning an Akita is such a good thing too since they are the masters of independence which some dogs are not capable of. You may like their cool, rugged and wolf-life appearance and their dignified presence every time they come inside the house or be around you.

What may alarm you is that these dogs do not bark that much. They do when they're puppies but once they start maturing, they turn into the strong, silent type. This is a little scary since silent is good but when partnered with the other S, it may give your family some feeling of uneasiness instead of comfort.

Purchasing a dog is not just all about cuteness. The Akita puppy does grow and will mature into a big, bulky dog that will make your house seem small. They will also have a mind of it own. Who's the boss you or your Akita? You really have to maintain your ground and be strong-willed and confident when you say sit or no!

Owning an Akita Inu also may have some sort of legal liabilities in your city. You also have to check with the Canine Association near you. You cannot erase some public perception of owning such a scary looking dog in your domain. They may also be insurance hazards since they are very possessive of their turf. They do not socialize with other dogs that much and even with their own kind. If they feel that their territory is being violated by strangers - people or animals, they break loose and bite.

It is advisable not to pursue this kind of breed of you live in a heavily populated area and if there a lot of little kids around too. These Akita dogs are quite very energetic that they might accidentally pounce on little children or even adults. You really have to be always present and have the dog on a leash if you are indeed entering a heavily busy place.

They may also spell trouble when you have plans of bringing them to play in the park. These are very aggressive dogs to begin with. Well, they are not ferocious like the Pit bulls; they are not into the mister or miss congeniality pageant after all. These dogs require frequent exposure to people especially the friendly ones. But you have to slowly introduce them to your dog since they have to get used to them first. Otherwise, the Akita will be very suspicious with everyone and this is not good.
