Properly Training Your Dog

As man's best friend, dogs have long been the ideal companion and friend. However, in order to be the best companion that a dog could be, he will have to be properly trained.

It is important that your dog does not jump on every visitor, bark at every movement, chase your cats, become aggressive, go to the bathroom in the wrong place, and/or tear up the garden.

Many people simply give their dog away when their dog develops these habits because they have no idea what to do. These people do not even try to train their dog because it is too time consuming or they think it will be an impossible task.

However, there are several non-time consuming tricks through which you can train your dog to improve their behavior. These methods do not require a lot of money for a professional dog trainer either.

Professional dog trainers often have to teach the owner as much as they have to teach the dog in training. This is due to the fact that if the owner does not command in the same way, the training they received will be very temporary.

However, the owner can learn a few things on their own and they can save a lot of money through avoiding paying a professional dog trainer. The first step to training your dog yourself is to learn how to communicate with your dog.

Part of the reason dogs are man's best friend is because they are very social animals. They are very similar to people in their need for love and a secure future.

Training is not easy. It takes a lot of patience and love to be successful.

One of the most common mistakes of an owner is that they teach a dog the command to "Come." Then, when a dog is in trouble, they use that command to get them to stop what they were doing and come back.

When the dog comes back, they punish it. The dog learns very quickly that "Come" means punishment, and they will stop responding to it.

After you teach the command to "Come" it should always be used in a positive context, such as going on a walk. Then, when it is vital for your dog to come they will respond.

Dogs have very short term memory. Due to this fact, the dog must be punished precisely when you catch them misbehaving.

Otherwise they will have no idea what they did wrong. When you punish him, do not use physical punishment.
Instead, tell him to sit and then scold him. Your dog will be able to tell that you are unhappy and they will stop their bad behavior.

Dogs try to make you happy. You are their pack leader and they look up to you.

If you use physical punishment they will come to fear you instead of simply trying to make you happy. When dogs only fear you, they only stop what they enjoy doing temporarily.

However, when dogs are trying to make you happy they will work on quitting their bad habits. The relationship you have will your dog will be strengthened and grow if you teach them without physical punishment.

Punishment is not the only feedback that a dog should receive during training. When they do something correctly they should also receive feedback.

Praise, love, and encouragement are vital for improving human behavior. It is the same when training dogs.

As you praise and love your dog, your dog will also love you and try to please you. You will also be providing the best home that the dog could receive, and they will be very happy.

Positive training works improves the life of both the owner and the dog. Throughout this process the dog will become a bigger part of the family.

In turn your dog will consider you a more influential part of the pack. Both of these stations in life are very important from the right perspective.

This relationship is worth the time, effort, patience, and frustration that it will take to build. All worthwhile relationships take work to build, it is the same in the relationship you have with your dog.
