Keep in mind that chocolate is in fact harmful to dogs because it contains an ingredient known as theobromine, and dogs cannot effectively metabolize it. This can remain in the pet's blood for up to 20 hours, and can cause fast heart rate, severe diarrhea, internal bleeding, seizures, heart attacks, and can result in death. Even a little amount of chocolate can cause real problems for your dog.

Medium sized dogs only have to drink a couple to ounces to kill them. If your dog has licked up any amount of antifreeze, it is critical to take them to the vet right away to save their life.

Another thing that is poisonous to dogs is snail and slug bait, and dogs often lick the grass since they are so curious. It contains metaldehyde, and arsenic . This can cause vomiting, confusion, thirst, drooling, and diarrhea.

Mushrooms are also poisonous to dogs, and can cause vomiting, diarrhea, liver disease, and neurological disorders.

Although being poisoned by onion is rare, it can happen if your dog eats large amount of them. It contains a chemical that causes the red blood cells to burst open all through the bloodstream. Dogs that have been poisoned will have diarrhea and vomiting, and also have red urine.
