Having a Pet Teaches Responsibility

Every family should have a good pet to care for. Especially when there are children who can learn some responsibility by owning an animal of some kind. There are a few typical animals that are preferred by families worldwide.

One extremely loved domesticated animal that people consider owning as pets is dogs. Dogs make wonderful companions for girls and boys, men and women alike. They will lie down, they will not talk back unless they are trained to. They will not complain when you take them out, even if you are just running to the store for milk. If you forget his food, he will sit and watch or remind you about it by nuzzling up against you. Very few friends are as loyal as your puppy will be.

Another typical and very loved pet is the cat. A little more prone to allergic reactions than dogs, cats are wonderful, independent pets. They can be trained but not as easily as the lovable dogs. They usually are not very expensive and their food is even cheaper. They are not hard to keep clean because they clean themselves and their toys are inexpensive, as well. They were domesticated and liked to stick around the humans from the beginning. The oldest bones found of domesticated cats go back to 6000 BC.

Hamsters are also pets that people enjoy having. They are very disease-free, easy to handle and quiet. They are actually very commonly found in research facilities because they have a very similar cardiovascular systems as humans. They breed very rapidly, which is something that parents need to take into consideration if they get more than one.

The quietest animal of all would be the fish, unless you take into consideration the sound of the pump in the fish tank. Statistics have shown that fish collecting is one of the most common hobbies worldwide. There are thousands and thousands of fish, big and small, colorful and plain.

How a fish behaves will depend on the species. Some will attack other fish and should not be put in a tank with other smaller fish. Some will require special kinds of food. Most are inexpensive to keep clean but they do require time and attention to makes sure they are being fed and the tank is cleaned properly. You do not need to have a large space to keep your fish and you will not pay a deposit at a new home for this kind of pet.

People are known to keep mice as pets, as well. They were originally pets in Asia as royal inhabitants of the palace but have become Americanized as pets over the years. They generally live around 3 years. They are quiet, cheap, soft, furry, cute and the perfect tiny little pet for little children, as long as they are taught how to care for them and how not to harm them.

There are many, many different animals that people get as a pet. Some of them are birds, guinea pigs and snakes. Some more unusual pets, like iguanas, frogs and turtles are also favorites of children and adults alike.
