There has been always a debate about whether to feed a dog veg or non-veg food. Some people are vegetarian they tend to feed their dog vegetarian food but there are some vets who strongly oppose this. The main reason for this is that dogs are hunters by nature and they tend to derive all nutrition from non-veg food.

Dogs that are mostly given vegetarian food are deprived of getting proper nutrition. A dog can be given all types of non-veg food and the best way to give them such food is to give them in cooked form.

Types of non-veg dog foods

Chicken

Chicken is the best form of non-veg dog food and it is less in fat. It is better to feed dog this low calorie food, as it will not harm its heart in anyway. It is suggested that one must always boil chicken as well the bones so that it is free from parasites and does not harm the dog in any way.

Even if chicken is cooked in home to be consumed for humans, it is suggested that one must always wash the chicken before feeding it to the dog. This will make the meat free from salt and spices. Even though chicken is a tender meat, still it must always be cooked before giving the dog. This is because chicken when not cooked the broken bones sometimes have sharp edges and it may puncture the intestine of the dog.

Red meat

There are various types of red meat in dog foods, beef, pork, and mutton, however it is suggested that these form of red food must not be given in excess else it will harm the dog in long run. This is because these meats are high in calories and they cause heart problem in dogs in older dogs, they can also cause joint problem. Other sources of meat, which are less in calories, are a much better option.

Fish

Fish is other excellent types of dog foods and must be given to the dog but only in cooked form. This is because fish if served in raw form will harm the dog since fish as some form of parasite in it, which harms the dog in many ways. The dog is prone to various skin and intestine infection and will be harmed considerably. It is suggested to boil fish and then give it to the dog. If it is a puppy then better serve him sea fish as it has less bones and it will not be harmed by the fish in any way.
