The Interesting Relationship between Dogs and Cats

We have often heard the saying "They fight like cats and dogs." Is this really a true picture of the whole truth? I believe not. The reality is that they can live together in harmony.

They have the animal compassion to live together. I should know, I have 4 dogs and one cat, and they get along quite well.

We have always had a cat to rid our yard of rats. We live in a community, in the country, and rats are always coming into the house whenever there are no fruits on the trees, so, we got a cat. Our dog, Sparky, he took to her like the best friend and they got along. There are times you will see them both playing together in the yard.

Then we had 3 additions of dogs to the family, and they all got on like a house on fire. Before they settled down to becoming friends, there was some getting to know you period. They had to stake out their individual territories, but after awhile they settled down to the business of living together and just being a cat and dogs.

There are times I will see the cat, his name is Sage, jumping on back of one of the dogs, and her name is Suzy. You will sometimes see Sage trying to catch Suzy's attention by playing with her tail. Sometimes I see the dog chasing Sage across the lawn, and he is trying to play dodge with them. I have never seen them fight. However if a strange cat does come into their space in our yard, the dogs will ferociously chase the intruder out.

I recently got a new pup, named Shadow and he is trying to get accustom to Sage. You will see Shadow jump on Sage and spread out across his back as if he is riding a horse. Sage does not necessarily comply at times. He will play with him for awhile, and when he gets bored, he will climb onto the highest place he can find to get away from him. However, there are times you will see Sage and Shadow playing around the house together.

The thing is if they live together they will get along. They will be best friends while they grow together.

Think about it, God initially created all animals to live together in harmony, so, why should they not?
