Linda, the happy cow

29 11:21:51
Linda is a Holstein milkcow, and lives happily in a farm. It is difficult to say if she is black with wide white spots or white with large black stains. The left ear is white, and the right is black, that is how the farmer always recognizes her. Also, because of her big deep brown eyes (and, of course, the badge hanging from the ear).

She is not fat neither slim. She is in form. Her udders are not bulky as the older's ones, because she is young.

She has no problem in being milked twice a day. She leads on her own to the barn when she hears the usual sound and the automatic gates open for her. The pump tickles her and it is quite a relief. Her milk is a valuable one indeed, and it is because of her health and her diet. Here is the only trick.

She likes to go and graze in the mornings, after the first milking. However, it can not happen all days, and she is content with the forage that the farmer provides.

She loves alfalfa. It is tasteful and makes her feel full of energy. Alfalfa sprouts are her favorite lucnh, but the farmer prefers feeding her and her friends with alfalfa pellets, which are easier to use and there is no waste of foodstuff. The only problem is when she gets bloat and she cannot have alfalfa for a while.

Then, apart from the grass she grazes, or the festuca in the feeder, the farmer puts on some ryegrass packs. Sometimes there is some fuss, but Linda always manages to eat whatever she wants.

She sees the horses having their special horse food in the other side of the fence and she has a little envy of the cotton seeds. It does not last for so long, because Linda is very happy and healthy.
