For many dog owners, choosing the right diet for their pet is something, stressful and they consider it to be a long process too. Even, some of them consider it to be an expensive affair too. If you too are confused in this regard, let us get into some useful details here:

What to feed? It cannot be actually said what should be fed to your pet as the diet suitable for one breed and even one dog cannot be suitable for another. So, it cannot be said that you can opt for a particular brand product. But, you need not despair, you can make the process of selection of the right eatables easier by reading the label, after knowing what to look for on the label. First of all, you should decide on the type of dog food to be chosen as to whether you should opt for frozen, dry or wet eatables, meat or a mix of all these stuffs. Each of these types has their own pros and cons and so appropriate selection becomes important.

Complete foods: Most of the dog owners in the United Kingdom are opting for the most complete foods. An eatable for these pets can be stated as complete, when it has every nutrient needed for the healthy growth of the pets.

Complementary eatables and mixer biscuits: When talking about complementary alternatives, they are generally wet or frozen in nature and they do not contain the whole range of nutrients needed for the pets and some of them contain nutrients, but not in appropriate proportions. So, complementary foods can be fed along with mixer biscuits or complete eatables. Mixer biscuits here denote, biscuits that are cereal based, occasionally with herbs or vegetables.

Wet fodder: Wet eatables are those that are found in pouches, trays and tins, and they do not require any added preservatives as the cooking process can kill different micro-organisms that are present within the sealed containers. Since these eatables contain a large amount of water, the level to be fed will be higher as compared to that of dry alternatives and so they are expensive too.

Frozen fodder: Recently, foods falling under this category is gaining importance as freezing is considered to be the best way to preserve nutrients. However, the difficulty in transporting the eatables and thawing them overnight makes them the lesser convenient alternative to pre-prepared fodder.
