Top 5 Low Shedding Dog Breeds

29 11:19:41
We have all met people who say they adore dogs yet keep away from them because they are allergic to them. Tragic! Isn't it? Many people even opt for allergens but unfortunately that can trigger allergic reactions in the dog itself. However, there is a middle road to sort the crisis and a little research on low-shedding dogs will help.

Almost every dog needs grooming; however some breeds need it more than others. But just because you do not hours to spend at a pet grooming centre or you cannot do it yourself doesn't imply you should shy away from getting yourself a dog. Some breeds are low shedding and comparatively fuss-free and you will not have to spend your time picking up dog hair from here and there because these dogs shed way less. Here are the top 5 low shedding dogs:

1. Dachshund

With their warm melting eyes, long bodies and droopy ears, these dogs make perfect adorable companions. What's more is that they shed very little. There are three kinds of coats available- long haired, wire haired and short haired. The long-haired variety may need a little grooming from time to time but the short-haired and wirehaired varieties require no grooming as they do not shed. What's more is that these dogs are friendly towards their people and wary of strangers and hence make good watchdogs too.

2. Yorkshire Terrier

These are little dogs with big hearts and not to mention absolutely cute! Do not let their luxuriously rich coat fool you into extensive grooming because Yorkies rarely shed. You will only have to do minimal grooming and some brushing. They are very outing and sociable. Always alert and ready to bark at the slightest hint of danger.

3. Shih Tzu

Shih Tzu has a silky coat so does that mean dog hair everywhere? Certainly not! These are absolutely non-shedders and their long, silky coat only requires occasional combing and brushing. So, no more worrying about dog hair. Their name means "Little Lion", though there is nothing lion-like in these cute adorable creatures. They are affectionate, outgoing and happy-go-lucky house dogs.

4. Miniature Schnauzer

Schnauzers make excellent family-dogs. They have an outer wiry coat and a soft undercoat that rarely sheds which makes them good for allergy sufferers. People who own Miniature Schnauzers often get the coat clipped except for his mustache, beard and eyebrows which are very distinct in this breed. These dogs are very enthusiastic and intelligent. With them in the house, you will never feel bored or alone because they will keep you company, no matter what!

5. Border Terrier

The wiry and durable coat of the Border Terrier requires only weekly brushing. He has a wiry and scruffy look naturally so you don't have to worry about keeping him clean and brushed all the time. He rarely sheds and is good for allergy-sufferers. He is alert and good-natured and makes excellent companion. The dog is always full of love for his people and ready to play.
