Horse care basically involves feeding and watering them daily, daily exercise, and regular medical attention which include giving them

Vaccinations. They need regular hoof care and veterinary care atleast once in a year. They are often exposed to intestinal worms, and hence it is advised to get them dewormed atleast after every six to eight weeks.

Treatment for ulcers in horses

Horses may develop ulcers at times and it becomes very important to treat them effectively with the right kind of medication. Ulcers can develop in the upper or non-glandular part of the stomach, in duodenum (upper part of the small intestine), in colon (large intestine), lower or glandular part of the stomach. Ulcers in different parts require different treatment and applying the same treatment to all may produce a less effective result. Treatment for ulcers in horses can be done by using daily supplements. Stomach ulcers are treated by protecting the stomach lining and at the same time stimulating healing as fast as possible. Pelleted and flavored daily supplements are available for all classes of horses. They help in prevention and repair of colic, gastric ulcers, diarrhea as well an upset digestive system. They greatly boost the immunity of adult horses, help in weight gain in picky eaters and senior horses. These supplements also improve the strength and shininess of the horses mane and the hardness of the hooves. The supplements contain prebiotics, probiotics, Vitamin E, A, D, Thiamine, Biotin, anti-oxidants and organic trace minerals.

Feed for horses with ulcers

Feed for horses with ulcers should include prebiotics and probiotics as they contain digestive bacteria in them. The feed should also have biotin vitamin which is known to strengthen hooves and hair coat. This vitamin also improves the wall surface of the intestine. It is essential for converting feeds to energy which helps the horses to grow, carry out their daily work and reproduce. Thiamine and other essential B vitamins should also be present in the feed as they improve nutrient metabolism as well as the appetite. Antioxidants like Vitamin E and Organic Selenium should also be included in the diet.
