Even though I am not professional groomer, I still love to groom my dog every few weeks. Both my dog and I are kind of love the grooming time. How can I know my dog's feeling? Because every time I groom my dog, he is peaceful and his face shows that he is enjoying this grooming.

In fact, dog likes you to spend time with him and if you do grooming in a right way, both of you will enjoy this time. If you plant to groom your dog at home, dedicated equipment is essential. One of the most important items you need is grooming scissors. Do you think so? Especially for the dogs which have long, thick or curly fur. Before purchasing dog grooming scissors, you need to consider about your dog's fur.

Generally, there are two kinds of scissors you can see in many store, one is the serration scissors and the other is straight scissors. However, do these two types of scissors are suitable for all pooches? Of course not. Stainless steel straight scissors are the normal scissors we use in our daily life which has straight snips will cut a straight edge. You will see a definite line from where you have just cut. Using them can lead to an uneven look if used to cut your dog's body fur. So straight scissors are suitable for shorten, thin fur dogs. Unless, you need these scissors to cut off a knotted part of the fur that is close to the skin of your dog. Moreover, these dog grooming scissors are good for trimming under the paws and if you want a straight edged tail in a half moon shape then you can use them for that. They are also good for cutting a straight line across the face to cut the fur back form the dog's eyes as well as trimming the fur around the edge of the ears. For any of the small fluffy breeds these grooming scissors are a necessity.

The other one is the stainless steel serration scissors. You can also call them thinning scissors. They are generally used in dog grooming for getting a more natural look on your dog. For example, along the muzzle you might prefer to have a look which is not straight-scissored. These serration scissors are great for dogs with thick feathering which needs thinning out, either on the back end or the legs of the dog.

Since scissors are easy to get rusty, you'd better store them in a dry place and buy scissor oil which helps to keep them work longer and smoothly.
