When we hear the word 搈iniature? we expect that it is smaller than the normal size of a thing.?Just like in dogs,?the miniature Dachshund?is just like a dwarf version of the standard Dachshund. They have the same coat varieties, long, low bodies and popularly called as 搒ausage dogs?

Despite their small proportions, a miniature Dachshund is a strong and muscular dog with broad shoulders and hindquarters.?It has beautiful almond-shaped eyes that are set into a perfectly proportioned, long face.?It has an enormous variety of colours although tan and black are the?most widely seen colors.

These cutie dogs are faithful, good-tempered, and extremely intelligent, though?not necessarily easy to train as they have real minds of their own.?Early training and socialization with children can make them turn into outstanding family pet.?Their hunting instinct is deeply ingrained so good control of these dogs off lead is essential.

Dachshunds have the possibility to bond particularly strongly with one member of the family.Children must be taught to handle a miniature Dashchund with respect, as he will become withdrawn if treated unfairly.?A moderate amount of grooming is also necessary particularly in the long-haired tiny Dachshund.

Some Dachshunds suffer from skin problems, such as baldness or lack of pigmentation in their skin.?But the main health concern with miniature Dachshund is linked to their elongated spines. Ruptured discs are a common problem. Care must be taken to avoid these dogs using stairs or jumping on and off furniture.?Their weight must be carefully monitored to avoid becoming overweight as this places extra stress on their spines.

Although small, a miniature Dachshund is also bred as a hunting dog and as such, tenjoys his exercise! They?require a moderate amount of exercise; perhaps 20 - 40 minutes a day.?Care must be taken when allowing these dogs off lead because of their natural hunting instincts. If they detect a scent, they may well try to go to ground, to dig out they 'prey'!

A well fenced, secure garden is a must for miniature Dachshunds - they are world class diggers and may well dig themselves to freedom given the opportunity!

Miniature Dachshunds is the mirror of their larger relatives, and the only difference is their size.?But no matter how big or small, they are all lovable that you would want to keep and be part of your household.
