Cocker Spaniel puppies make a wonderful, loving house pet.?We will discuss some of their physical attributes as well as their general temperaments.

As adults they attain a size of about 14-16 inches measured at the withers. The male is somewhat taller and heavier than the female.

If you are buying a dog for show purposes any solid color along with parti-color is acceptable. Parti-color is white blended with other colors. Black with light brown accents is fine as long as the black portion is unmingled with other colors.
If light brown is present it should be on the muzzle, feet, eyebrows, and below the ears. Light brown may or may not appear on the chest. One other color called roan is permissible. Tri colored animals can also be shown in competition.?In addition to black, red and blonde are acceptable with or without light brown. White accents under the chin are acceptable on solid colored dogs.

Cocker Spaniel puppies are very good house pets. They are characterized by the sheen of their fur and by their bright-eyed alertness.

These dogs are probably not the best choice if the home has young, rowdy kids. Like most any dog breed these dogs need to be socialized as small puppies to insure that they will have a pleasant disposition later in life. Socialization is accomplished by exposing the puppies to a great variety of other animals and humans as soon as possible.

Cockers have been greatly accepted because of their sweet dispositions. They are happy, perky, exhuberant, and very trainable. These attributes are very much responsible for the Cocker's increasing popularity.

They are not a dog that requires heavy exercise like a Siberian husky but a modest amount of play will insure their good health.?

They are sensitive little animals so if discipline is necessary be careful not to scold them too hard.

Because the market has grown so fast for these dogs a lot of unqualified breeders have gotten involved resulting in a lot of poor quality dogs for sale. If you find ads for Cocker Spaniel puppies for sale be sure to examine the breeder's credentials closely.

You should enjoy many hours of playful fun should you decide to own one of these cheerful little dogs. Cockers seem to enjoy life inside the home and are good candidates for those in apartments.

It is best not to leave them unattended out in the yard for hours.?Their long shaggy coats can be a bit of a problem in the hot summer months if left outdoors without protection from the hot sun.

Properly bred dogs generally have relatively few health issues. On an infrequent basis you may see some heart problems or possibly epilepsy.?Some other issues occasionally seen are hemophilia or glaucoma.?Another problem seen in many breeds is hip dysplasia and the Cocker is no exception.
