Daily Dog Walks Are Important

29 9:38:34

Walking your dog every day will benefit your pet both physically and emotionally. It is something that every dog owner should do. But before starting your new dog walking routine, read up on some of the issues that should be taken into consideration.

People who have dogs want them to be healthy and happy. But this can't happen if your pet is locked away indoors all day every day. Your dog needs to get outside and enjoy a nice walk around your neighborhood, or a nearby park, or maybe even a special trip to the beach.?/p>

Dogs love to get out of the house as much as people do. Do not think for one second that your pet is the one exception in this whole world that likes living inside all day every day. So make a decision right now that your pet is going to start getting the regular routine of exercise every day that he deserves. But before you head out and run the poor guy ragged, let us take a look at some of the things to consider before you begin Fido's stroll.?/p>

First, dogs are like people. If they have lived a relatively inactive life, they might not be able to handle a full hour of non-stop walking. You will need to pay very close attention to how your pet responds and make sure he or she is not overly exerted. Start out slow and work on building up his (or her) endurance. Before you know if, your pooch will be able to handle a longer walk than you.?/p>

Next, plan the route that you will be taking with your dog. In order for you to do this properly, you will need to take into consideration the type of dog you have. As a general rule, the longer the legs on your pet, the longer the distance he is able to cover without exhausting himself.?/p>

You should also take care to bring plenty of water with you. This will be of benefit to both you and your canine companion. It is important to keep your dog hydrated, especially if you live in a warmer climate like South Florida. In the summer, the heat can be difficult on a dog.?/p>

Do not forget to allow your dog to rest from time to time. This is especially true in the summer in warmer areas. Dogs are not capable of sweating and have to cool their bodies by panting. If you notice that your dog is beginning to pant, find a nice shade to stop under to allow him to rest. This would be a great opportunity to have a little play time or perhaps a nice belly rub (for your dog, not you).?/p>

On a slightly less pleasant note, don't forget the pooper scooper. make sure that you are a responsible pet parent and clean up after your dog.?/p>

And finally, the last tip is to be sure and have fun. This walk that you take with your dog is truly the highlight of his day. Every dog is different, but rest assured that one thing that they all have in common is their love of getting out and taking their daily walk. They love the freedom and they love the sunshine. So make sure that you get your dog out every day!
