Dogs are usually very healthy, but there are a few problems that are very common in dogs. These health problems are usually easy to diagnose and treat once the underlying cause is determined. Any dog that exhibits these problems should be taken to a veterinarian for a proper diagnosis and treatment.

1. Vomiting and Diarrhoea
Dogs may vomit or have diarrhoea or both, which is an indication that the dog is having gastrointestinal problems. More than likely, vomiting and diarrhoea is caused by something that the dog ate, such as table scraps, garbage or other non-food items like dog toys. Sometimes, vomiting and diarrhoea is caused by parasites or diseases.
2. Allergies
Dogs can be allergic to many different things, such as pollen, grass, dust, mold and even their own food.?br />3. Eye Infections or Injuries
Eye infections or injuries can be caused by bacteria or a foreign object in the eye.
4. Ear Problems
Many times ear problems are caused by infections, bacteria, allergies or ear mites.
5. Kennel Cough
Kennel cough is an infectious disease spread by other dogs. A dog is most likely to be infected when in close quarters with other dogs, such as in a boarding facility, groomer's or veterinarian抯 office. A yearly bordetella vaccine will prevent kennel cough.
6. Heartworms
Heartworm disease is caused by a parasite transmitted by the bite of a mosquito. Heartworms can be easily avoided by a monthly dose of heartworm preventative.
7. Dental Disease
Dogs need their teeth brushed in order to maintain gum and tooth health because tartar build-up can cause serious problems in the mouth. Dental disease can be prevented by using a dog toothbrush and toothpaste, which can be purchased in a pet store.?br />8. Obesity
Dog obesity may occur when the dog is overfed its dog food, treats or table scraps. Not exercising the dog on a daily basis contributes to obesity. Although it is rare, obesity can also be caused by an underlying medical condition or medication.
9. Parasites
Dogs can come in contact with parasites through other animal抯 feces, by eating something that is infected or by drinking infected water. Some parasites are transmitted animal to animal, such as fleas or mites.

Itchy, red, irritated skin or rashes can be caused by insect bites, infections, allergies or injuries. Lumps under the skin may be just fatty tumors or could be cancerous cysts.
