If you have tried everything to silence Sir Barks-a-lot, it might be time to consider a bark shock collar. You know you have a problem when all of the neighbors are complaining every day. You may even face criminal charges if they get fed up enough to call the police. As a dog owner, you have the responsibility to keep your dog quiet after a certain hour. If there is a reason for the dog to bark, that is one thing, however, if Fido is just out in your yard barking nonstop, that is a serious problem.

Dogs bark for several reasons. They may bark because they see or hear something that they are alerting you to. They may bark because other dogs are barking and they want to communicate. And, they may bark because they are bored or lonely. Regardless of why they are barking, you have to work to get them to stop. Training them to stop on command is vital, but not all dogs will easily take to this training. Some of them need to have another step to really get the idea.

When you are training your dog to stop barking on command, the first step is to get his attention. You might shake a jar of marbles to get him to hear you, which may be enough to stop him from barking. Other dogs might ignore you completely and continue barking no matter what. That is where the bark collar might come in handy.

While you don抰 want to hurt your dog in any way, you want to keep him from being a nuisance. The collar will not hurt him and when used in a proper training setting can help him stop his constant barking. The collar fits around his neck with the shock box directly over his vocal chords. When he barks, the vocal chords vibrate and stimulate the shock box which in turn sends a mild but annoying shock to the dog, who can then be given the command to 揾ush?or whatever word you choose. When he complies, he is rewarded. When he continues to bark, he continues to get shocked. Eventually, even the most stubborn dog will catch on and figure out that if he stops barking when he hears the command that the shocking will stop.

Because dogs come in all kinds of sizes, the collars should also be the right size. Remember though, that a bark shock collar is only part of the training process; your gentle voice and positive reinforcement are also very important to his success.
