Phobia is not considered as an ordinary fear. It is defined as intense fear towards anything. Phobias are of several types. People who have phobias usually avoid from the fear subject. According to research, phobia is one of the anxiety disorders which can occur in almost all age groups. Phobias can be categorized into groups like, social phobia, specific phobia, and agoraphobia. Social phobia occurs when you fear of being embarrassed by others or performance anxieties. Specific phobia, as name tells it include fear from some specific thing like dogs, elevators, snakes, flying, water, spiders and waves etc. Agoraphobia is known as fear of leaving home or any specific safe area.

Phobias can occur because of few reasons like combination of genetics, heredity, brain chemistry, and life experiences that can lead to phobia. Human beings aren’t the only ones who are afraid of heights and loud thunder but phobia occurs in pets. They are also prone of getting scared or anxious.
