History. The Poodle is said to originate from France but some experts believe that they may have originated in Russia. Germany is also often cited as the place of origin since the word "Poodle" has German origin. (The word "Poodle" comes from the German word "Pudel", short for "Pudelhund". Appearance. Based on the AKC (American Kennel Club) breed standard, a Toy Poodle should stand not exceed ten inches at the highest point of the shoulder.
